PC, BJP nominate same candidate for Dooru Shahabad | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Nov 15: Peoples Conference led by Sajad Gani Lone and Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) have given mandate to a same candidate for the forthcoming Assembly elections from south Kashmir's Dooru Shahabad constituency. The Peoples Conference which issued the second list of its candidates on Friday had nominated Advocate Suhail Malik Dy Advocate General Supreme Court of India from Dooru Shahabad. While the BJP which issued another list of candidates today nominated Suhail Malik from the same constituency. Sources told Early Times that Malik, son of former Director news Doordarshan and Radio Kashmir, recently joined the Peoples Conference following which party gave him the mandate from Dooru Shahabad. A senior BJP leader said that Malik was promised mandate by the party but announcement got bit delayed. "He may have joined the Peoples Conference," he added. The media incharge of the BJP Altaf Thakur who had mailed the list of candidates to various news organizations had kept his phone switched off and couldn't be contacted. The BJP spokesman Khalid Jehangir said that he has gone through the list and he acknowledged that it can be a mistake. "I don't know whether he was a part of BJP or not. If it's a mistake it can be rectified," he added. A Peoples Conference leader feigned ignorance about the development and refused to comment over the issue. None of the Peoples Conference leaders could be contacted for their comments. |
