| Juniors run 19 police stations in Jammu region, reveals RTI | | |

Jammu, Nov 15: Out of more than 100 police stations in Jammu region, 19 are being run by the junior officers, including sub-inspectors, additional sub-inspectors and probationary sub-Inspectors, the RTI has revealed.
In a reply to an RTI filed by this scribe seeking details of total number of SIs/ASIs and other juniors holding charge of SHOs in Jammu province, the Public Information Officer (PIO), Zonal Police Headquarter (ZPHQ) Jammu has said: "There is no police station in Jammu, Poonch and newly created Ramban district where a junior is holding charge of SHO whereas the border Rajouri district is having maximum number of 7 Police Stations being run by junior police officers."
"In Rajouri district, Sub Inspector Sajjad Iqbal is holding charge of SHO Thanamandi Police Station, SI Naresh Sharma holding charge of SHO Sunderbani Police Station, SI Navneet Singh as SHO Darhal Police Station, SI Bashir Ahmed as SHO Kandi Police Station, SI Mehmood Ahmed as SHO Manjakot Police Station, ASI Sat Prakash as SHO Nowshera Police Station, ASI Mohammad Qazoom as SHO Dharmsal Police Station," the reply states.
In the table, the second district having three Police stations being run by juniors is Udhampur where PSI Vipan Bangotra is holding the charge of SHO Women Cell (AHTU), PSI Ajaz Pervaiz as SHO Latti Police Station and PSI Anil Sharma as SHO Basantgarh (as leave reliever).
There are two Police Stations each in Samba, Kathua, Reasi and Kishtwar districts being run by juniors.
As far as Kishtwar district is concerned, SI Nazir Ahmed is holding charge of SHO Marwah Police stations, PSI Madan Lal as SHO Warwah Police Station. In case of Reasi, SI Ranjeet Singh is holding charge of SHO Arnas Police Station and SI Bupesh Singh as SHO Ramsoo Police Station. In Kathua, SI Sachinder Pal Singh is holding charge of SHO Rajbagh Police Station and SI Bramdev Singh is holding charge of SHO Bani Police Station.
In Doda there is just one police station being run by junior i.e. SI Ravi Singh Parihar, he is holding charge of SHO Thathri Police Station. |
