Students' march organised at Basohli to sensitize masses | | | Early Times Report
Kathua, Nov 15: District Administration organised a series of events in Basohli, Kathua and Billawar under MatdaanMahotsav campaign of Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP). According to press release, a women electoral conference was organised at DIET Basohli where women volunteers and members of booth area teams participated apart from general public. District Election Officer (Deputy Commissioner) Kathua was chief guest on the occasion who also flagged of rally of 1200 students at Basohli and chaired election awareness function organised at JawaharNavodyaVidyalaya. More than 5000 participated in the three events organised at Basohli. The DC outlined the scheme for ensuring greater participation, as series of measures launched by district administration for facilitating participation of women, youth and differently abled voters; promotion of ethical and informed voting, facilitation at polling stations and establishment of model polling stations. He called upon the students for achieving the target of signatures on 3 Lakh pledge letters and eliciting greater response on poll day. Pledge was administered by faculty of JNV A number of cultural programmes, youth shows and skits were presented regarding ethical voting. Students from Government Degree College Basohli, JNV Basohli and Girls' and Boys' Higher Secondary Schools presented colourful programmes amidst thunderous applause from a strong gathering. District administration also greeted the students on Children Day. Earlier a march was flagged off from main chowk which walked through the town raising slogs for electoral participation and culminated at JNV campus where the event was organised. |
