Police, security forces asked to intensify patrolling to nab anti-poll elements in Kashmir | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 15 : About 100 companies of paramilitary forces may be added to the already sanctioned 600 companies for providing security cover to voters,candidates,political leaders in the poll bound Jammu and Kashmir state. Official sources said that the Union Home Ministry has informed the state Government and the Election Commission that in case there was need 100 more companies of paramilitary forces would be dispatched to the state where militants have started destabilizing peace.. Reports said that the union Home Ministry has taken cognizance of attempts by militants and separatists at terrorizing voters so that on the day of polling they remained indoors. According to these reports,militants have been asked by agencies across the border to raise the level of violence and in this context they have started threatening people of dire consequences if they participated in the poll process. Intelligence agencies have been told to identify groups of separatists who have been behind issuing posters in which people have been told to stay away from the poll process failing which they would be killed. Intelligence agencies have been told to pass on the information to the security forces once elements circulating posters were identified so that these mischief mongers were arrested. In addition to this paramilitary forces have been told to work in complete coordination with the police. The police have been told to intensify round the clock patrolling in highly sensitive areas so that people, especially voters, were not demoralized. |
