Former NC MP accused of running fake job racket
Duped hapless job aspirants of over Rs 70 lakhs

Srinagar, Nov 19 : Former Member Parliament in league with one of his associates has allegedly duped as many as 23 job aspirants and grabbed Rs 70 lakhs from them with a promise that he would provide them permanent job in Jammu and Kashmir Bank.
These job aspirant hailing from different hamlets of North Kashmir including Pattan, Khuru, Shirpora, Hanjiveera told that then National Conference Member Parliament Abdul Rashid Shaheen introduced them with his friend namely Abdul Majeed Mir a resident of Lashtiyal Kalaroos Kupwara at his Omar Abad Zainakot residence. "Shaheen introduced his friend as an official from Service Selection Board and assured us that Majeed Mir would adjust them in Jammu and Kashmir Bank provided they give him hard cash," the job aspirants said. "We sold our land and arranged Rs 70 lakhs for them.
We handed over the cash to Mir in front of Abdul Rashid Shaheen. A few days later Mir provided us appointment letters which all proved fake once we approached Jammu and Kashmir Bank authorities," they alleged.
They added that in a bid to shield his friend, Shaheen assured all the job aspirants that Mir would return them their money, however, the bank cheques that Mir provided also turned fake.
"Both Shaheen and Mir duped us and extorted money from us," they said adding that they have approached Crime Branch with a hope to get justice.
When contacted former Member Parliament Abdul Rashid Shaheen admitted that Abdul Majeed Mir cheated these job aspirants however added that he was not a party to this game.
"Like these people, Mir was also one of the workers of National Conference who frequently used to visit my residence. I don't know how these people came in touch with Mir and provided him money. I never introduced Mir to these people and I believe that the allegations they have been leveling against me is an attempt to tarnish my image," Shaheentold .
All efforts to contact accused Abdul Majeed Mir proved futile as he did not pick up the phone.
