CWA meets Transport Commissioner, demands revision of passenger fares | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 19 : A delegation of Consumer Welfare Association (CWA) today called on Transport Commissioner to apprise him of the demand of the commuters to reduce passenger fares in view of the cut in fuel prices. The CWA members in the meeting with the Transport Commissioner expressed their grave concern over non- reduction in fares of mini bus, three wheelers, buses and other modes of public transportation even after series of reduction in retail prices of diesel and petrol in the last couple of months. The members urged the Transport Commissioner to review the passenger fares at the earliest and announce slash in public transport fares. CWA Members also expressed their resentment over steady deterioration of the vehicles being used for carrying passengers to the utter discomfort of the commuters. The delegation said that the prices of various goods particularly essential commodities are also affected by the transport charges/ fares of trucks and carriers which also need to be revised. |
