Bootlegger held by GRP Katra | | | Early Times Report KATRA, Nov 19: Continuing the drive to check the smuggling of liquor to Holy Town of Katra where sale of Liquor and meat is banned, GRP today arrested a bootlegger and recovered 30 pouches of illicit liquor which he was carrying while travelling via train. "On getting inputs that Bootleggers are trying to smuggle liquor to Holy Town in trains the GRP Katra officials under the directions and close supervision of AK Mahajan, SSP Railways Katra are constantly conducting checkings and laying Naka's to have a check on any such attempt", said police sources. Police spokesman further said that today also when under the supervision of SSP Railways Katra checking was being conducted, the checking party of GRP officials headed by Inspector Shahzad Ahmed Khan, SHO GRP Katra apprehended one Bootlegger namely Sat Pal Singh of Devi BaniManwal in Udhampur with 30 Pouches of illicit Liquor (250 ml.each), which was being smuggled to Holy Town by him concealed in a bag. The Railway Police officials seized the liquor, arrested the accused and a case under FIR No. 08/2014 under section 48-A excise Act and 188 RPC has been registered at GRP Katra and investigation started to conduct further enquiries. Pertinently, GRP Katra officials under the directions and supervision of AK Mahajan SSP Railways Katra successfully apprehended accused making such attempts. |
