Early Times Report

SRINAGAR, Dec 5: State Congress chief Saif-ud-din today claimed that National Conference would join hands with the BJP for the government formation in Jammu and Kashmir.
Soz, while talking to reporters said that for coming to power, the ruling NC could possibly join hands with the BJP after the elections. "Only Congress is the party that can fight against the BJP on ground. Ours is the secular party. We cannot barter out principles and stand for the petty political gains," Soz said.
Over Omar's allegations that Soz wants to become the chief minister, he termed remarks as the blatant lie, saying he was offered CM's post but he rejected. "After 2008 elections, the chief minister post was offered to me. I rejected as we were not having numbers. Also Farooq Abdullah and his son had already offered support to Congress in JK," Soz remarked, adding that people on ground are at present much disgruntled against the national conference. He also said that at present also, he wants to strengthen the party base in the state and that he didn't contest elections as he wanted to look after the party affairs in Jammu and Kashmir. "People in large numbers from different areas approached me and requested me to contest polls. I didn't accept that idea as I believe that for me, my party stands first and I have to work for it to strengthen it further in Jammu and Kashmir," he said.
The state Congress chief maintained that during the ongoing elections in Jammu and Kashmir, the Congress party will sweep the polls and so far has done tremendously good on ground.
