PM Modi's rally leads to security hassles for Valley residents | | | Shakeel A Khan Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Dec 5: The much hyped maiden election rally of Prime Minister Narendra Modi here on December 8 has already cast its shadows much as the commoners face a lot of inconvenience in the name of the security that is being established for the proposed election rally. In connection with the PM’s election rally, the security personnel have been put on high alert checking the identity cards of the passers-by and the documents of the vehicles. The rally venue has been taken over by the police and the paramilitary forces and the hidden cameras have also been installed creating a sense of uncertainty in the minds of the people, living near the rally venue. "The election rally of the Prime Minister which is scheduled on December 8 reminds us of the Republic Day or the Independence Day because people remain confined to the houses for the security reasons. Same is happening because the strength of the police and the paramilitary personnel is more than the people living around the venue of the rally," said Mukhtar Ahmad a city resident. Mukhtar went on saying that he wishes that the election days are soon over so that the people get out of the trouble times because in Kashmir it takes no time for the things to turn ugly. As Mukhtar said, people of the valley have suffered a lot and have no strength to shoulder more bodies. It may be mentioned that eleven years before in 2003 then Prime Minister of India, Atal Bihari Vajpayee addressed a crowd of something around 20,000 people at Sheri Kashmir cricket stadium. Political Pundits say that it will be interesting to know that whether the much talked political rally of Narinder Modi succeeds in drawing the people out of their houses. "It is the rally of the person who does not enjoy the support of the people of the valley and who is doing all this under the unprecedented security measures. What can one say about the success of the rally when the venue has been handed over to the security agencies many days before the scheduled date," said a shopkeeper near the stadium. This shopkeeper went on saying that for BJP it may be mandatory to conduct the rally for accomplishing its mission 44+ but at same time it is the testing time for the commoners who wish the things to go on peacefully. |
