Says, Yousuf was tortured for 3 hours at CM residence; asks Omar to explain why he transferred his security officers | Former IG Crime breaks silence | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Dec 5: Breaking his silence over the mysterious death of National Conference worker Haji Syed Yousuf, the former Inspector General Crime Branch Raja Ajaz Ali Friday lashed out at the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for accusing him of killing Yusuf in custody and said no matter how clean imaged Omar Abdullah may try to present himself, he will always stand out in history as the main accused in the Haji Yousuf case. "Go and check the records in Crime Branch, Haji Yousuf was with us only for twenty minutes. As soon as he reached the headquarters of Crime Branch, his health deteriorated and we immediately shifted him to hospital. His (Haji Yousuf) face and body language indicated that he was harassed, tortured and beaten up at the residence of Chief Minister," Raja Ajaz Ali told Srinagar based news gathering agency adding that despite knowing the facts on what ground, Omar Abdullah is trying to mislead the people of Jammu and Kashmir. "It is a fact on record that Haji Yousuf was summoned by Omar Abdullah himself to his Gupkar residence to settle some murky money dealings. On the directions of Omar, his conduits forcibly brought Haji Yousuf at his residence, interrogated, and harassed him from 3 pm to 6:15 pm. Even CCTV footage showed how hale and hearty Haji Yousuf was when he entered into the house of Chief Minister and the same CCTV footage displayed how much he was under stress after coming out from the room," Raja Ajaz Ali said adding that to hush up the matter, Omar Abdullah constituted one-man Bedi Commission with an intent that its recommendations could have no binding on him. The former IG Crime Branch who is contesting on PDP ticket from Uri Assembly segment said that hours after the death of Haji Yousuf, Omar Abdullah transferred his personal security officer. "Omar transferred his personal security officers, especially Shabir Ahmed as it was known to him that his conduits and security officers tortured and harassed Haji Yousuf. Can Omar tell the people why he transferred his personal security officers soon after the death of Yousuf," he said. He added that by leveling allegations against him, Omar Abdullah has been contradicting his own government. "I was IG Crime then. Let us assume, Yousuf died in custody. Doesn't that mean that Omar Abdullah and his government is responsible for the death. Omar is acting like a child and I pity his wisdom," Ali said and added that Yousuf was for 20 minutes with the Crime Branch and during that period they approached Magistrate to seek remand for him. Raja Ajaz Ali said instead of following the systemic procedures by involving the concerned institutions Omar called a person to his residence to seek the account of dirty money collected from party aspirants in lieu of MLC and ministerial berths, which will never be erased from the family history of Abdullah household. "By all accounts the death of Haji Yousuf was linked to money and serves as the worst example of political corruption patronized by the NC leadership from last eight decades in the state and Omar will have to answer for all his omissions and commissions and serious corruption charges against him," he said and demanded a thorough probe into the matter. "The death of Haji Yousuf needs to be thoroughly and fairly probed. Nobody is above law and guilty should be forced to face the wrath of law of land," Raja Ajaz said. "Omar transferred his personal security officers, especially Shabir Ahmed as it was known to him that his conduits and security officers tortured and harassed Haji Yousuf. Can Omar tell the people why he transferred his personal security officers soon after the death of Yousuf." |
