Ganderbal, Dec 8:Highlighting the advantages of setting up of the Central University of Kashmir (CUK) here, the varsity Chancellor, Dr. Srikumar Banerjee today said the University would prove highly beneficial, for the local populace on different counts, and the students' community in particular, in years ahead. "The University will not only provide the best academic environment in the district, but will also provide other avenues to the locals," Dr. Banerjee said while interacting with the group of people after reviewing the progress of works on the pre-engineering buildings, taken up by the varsity. CUK officiating Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mehraj-udDin, Registrar, Prof. M Afzal Zargar, Controller of Examinations/Finance Officer, Dr. N A Gilkar and other senior administrative officials were also present. Dr. Banerjee said that after the completion of the ambitious project, the district would be synonymous with the Central University. "There are areas which have gained popularity after institutions of excellence were established there," he said while referring to Kanpur, which has achieved a distinction, after an IIT was established there. He asked the people to come forward and extend help, full support and cooperation in building the University in the district. Officiating Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mehraj udDin also sought help from the locals for the establishment of the campus. "The university would be a centre for learning par excellence and would provide a good platform to the students' community of Ganderbal to pursue higher education in their choice of subjects in their neighborhood," he added. |
