Asif Iqbal Naik Early Times Report KISHTWAR, Dec 8: After alleged denial of treatment to a pregnant woman by a lady doctor at Emergency Hospital, Thathri, the family moved the court of CJM, Doda. Jaffar Hussain, son of Saiya Gujjar of Thathri, Doda, alleged that when he shifted his wife Shabnam Begum to Thathri hospital, they were ill-treated by a lady doctor and denied treatment. In the application moved by him before CJM, Doda, he alleged that his wife developed labour pain and accordingly he and his family shifted her to Thathri Hospital at around 10 am on Sunday. When a lady doctor arrived there, she misbehaved with them and also dragged his wife out of the ward, he alleged. He said the woman was later shifted to district hospital, Doda, where she gave birth to a healthy baby. After going through the application, the CJM directed the Thathri Munsiff to dispose of the application according to the law. However, the final decision in this regard will be taken tomorrow when the Munsiff proceeds further in the case. It is pertinent to mention here that the Centre has introduced many welfare schemes for pregnant women, including Maa Tujae Salaam, wherein the union government has provided funds to the state governments for providing them all the facilities including free treatment/medicines, food, Rs 1400 and free treatment to the new born for three months. The government also provides free transportation to the pregnant lady in case of her shifting from one hospital to another. When contacted, Chief Medical Officer, Doda, Dr Yaqoob said that the lady doctor will herself clear her position in the court. "Let her go to court and defend herself--- if she has done something wrong, let her face the law," he added. |
