Samba, Dec 8: Prime Minister Narender Modi today while trading his guns towards the miseries of terrorism affecting the youth of the state who have taken to guns said that AK-47 in their hands needs to be exchanged with android phones.
Modi emphasized that the trigger pulled on AK-47 sucks life out of the human beings while the finger pressed on EVM, being more powerful can give life to the country.
Prime Minsiter Narender Modi's speech at Samba comes three days after the twin terrorists attack-one at Arnia and other at Srinagar-claimed 31 lives, including 14 security personnel and six civilians who died in two major attacks in the state on November 27 at Arnia (Jammu) and December 5 at Srinagar.
Praising the high voter turnout in the first two phases of polls, he said, "You have defeated bullet by ballot and proved ballot is more powerful than bullet".
He complimented the people of the state for having turned out in great number to vote despite militants' threats and fear. Nearly 11% jump was recorded in the valley polls recording an all time high of 71 %.
Modi compared the J&K voters with others in other states saying while the people in the other parts take it as a lighter exercise, J&K showed greater concern and participation in the democracy by turning out in large numbers to vote. The Prime Minister 33 minutes speech , though loaded with his concern for equitable 'Vikas' for all the three regions of the state was devoid of anti-Pakistan roar or a word coming on Art 370.
"Whatever happened in the state in the past 30 years has to change", said Modi , obviously pointing towards the terrorism having eaten into the vitals of the state. Terrorism had started in the state around 30 years ago. The first incident of terrorism was reported in July 1988.
"We have to take the youth in the direction of development and empower them to dream about their future," said Modi, when he mentioned about the youth's delinquency having arisen in the past 30 years of the terrorism in the state.
He was addressing a mammoth election rally at Samba, near the International Border in Jammu province on Monday. For a change, the Prime Minister was seen dressed in a coat and denim jeans pants, and supporting a 'saffron scarf' .He was presented with a Dogra headgear also on the venue.
In Kashmir also, he was in a pheran (cloak), without any headgear, but with the saffron scarf also.
Coming back to his political assault on the the dynastic rules in the state since past 60 years, Modi appealed the voters to give a befitting reply to the erstwhile rulers here to establish a majority government in Jammu and Kashmir for the holistic development.
Attacking the National Conference (NC), the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and the Congress, Modi said the dynastic politics has ruined the country.
"Dynastic politics is responsible for the destruction of country. It's insensitive to the spirit of democracy and the need of the hour is to strengthen the democracy by bringing a majority BJP government in the state," he said.
Taking a swipe at the Congress, he said that it enjoyed power by sitting in the lap of both the PDP and the NC and now it's backstabbing them by blaming the government for all the wrongs in the state.
"If the government was not performing why you supported it?" he asked the Congress which has been in coalition with the PDP and the NC in two successive governments.
Remembering Jammu's discrimination known to his government, he took a dag at the previous governments to having neglected it.
The state government doesn't care about Jammu. They never thought Jammu is also part of J&K. But no government can run with an agenda of discrimination", said Narender Modi touching the emotive chord of nearly 35000-40000 crowd thwart shrieked to the resounding echoes of 'Har Har Modi'.
"We can't discriminate among people and societies. Everyone should get equal rights. Every region, be it Jammu, Kashmir or Ladakh, should get its rights. It's for this reason we are seeking vote from all sections for the development of all".
He also criticized the government for not settling the issues of 12 lakh refugees settled in the state and assured that once into the power BJP government would settle all issues in one go and amicably.
"Their only fault is they swore by nationalism. I assure you it's the responsibility of the country to settle your issues," said the prime minister.
