VATS surgery begins in SSH by Dr Noor Ali HOD CVTS | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 10: CTVS department has crossed another miles stone to reach its destination. This procedure is performed for various diseases of organs situated in the thoracic Cavity like lungs, heart and mediastinum lymph node & food pipe etc. In this era of minimal approach for surgical operations, department of CVTS has joined. With this procedure only few holes are made in the chest wall, through which long instruments are passed and surgical procedure is completed operating surgeon views the tissue on the video screen in the magnified image form thus making this procedure easy to handle. During conventional surgery a bold incision is made over the chest by cutting the muscle layers, beside forming a long scar it is also pain full thus a source of increased morbidity and longer hospital stay while in this procedure pt. can be discharged within 1 or 2 days our patient was young adult female with involvement right sided lung i.e. loculated collection of pus called empyema thoracis. She was successfully operated upon with this new technique at the end. Three small holes were closed with single suture each thus negligible scar formation surgical team comprised of Dr Noor Ali Prof and head, Dr I A Mir, Dr Arvind, Dr Vivek and anesthesia given by Dr Pooja Para medical team was led by sister Indu. All this is possible with the help of the Principal Dr Ghanshyam Dev and M S SSH Dr R Gupta. |
