| Sham exhorts upon people: Raise pitch for Jammu CM | | | Mishu Gupta

AKHNOOR, Dec 10: PHE Minister and Congress senior leader Sham Lal Sharma , party candidate from Akhnoor has emphasized upon his people to raise the pitch for the demand of Jammu chief minister.
"If people from Gujarat can make their Chief Minister as the Prime Minister of India, what withholds you to raise the issue of your candidate to be the chief minister of the state," said Sham Lal Sharma while addressing a joining function of a BJP leader into the Congress fold at Akhnoor, 25 kms from Jammu.
He assured the gathering that the CM from Jammu would prove much better that the others who have ruled the state so far.
He was reiterating to the often asked question to him by media about his 'Hindu CM' statement that has generated great hype among the people of Jammu. Sham also asked the people to get ready for another election in the state within two years' time for the separate regional councils for Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh. " I may be a controversial leader. But my vision for the people of the state is very clear. The three regional councils for Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh appear in our manifesto which our All India Congress Committee chairperson Sonia Gandhi has put her seal on it," said Sham Lal. Sham Lal had on Dec 4, 2009 at Bani raised the pitch for separate regional council for three regions of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh. PHE minister had shot in limelight when in August 2014, he batted for a 'Hindu CM' for Jammu and Kashmir that kindled aspirations of the people of Jammu while Kashmir's rant on it came from Kashmiri leadership. The PHE minister said said that Bhartiya Janta party has taken into its fold the self-rule agenda of PDP as well as that of greater autonomy of National Conference and taking care of them while it has thrown into the dustbin its basic ideological vision of Art 370, Hindu Civil Code and regional disparity.
" The party (BJP) is banking on the Congress' strongest agenda of development that has been its core issue since past 67 years through which Congress has given a clear and transparent governance to India," said Sham Lal .
Sham Lal also dismissed the allegation about Congress embracing the laps of the regional parties in power and said that Congress is a national party and is bound by its national principles of giving good governance to the states.
"There is no likelihood of a complete majority government in Jammu and Kashmir as mandate is all likely to be fractured one. It becomes the responsibility of the national party like Congress to be in power for good governance in the state," said Sham Lal.
Earlier while taking a dig at PM Narendra Modi's development public rhetoric, Sham Lal gave a comparative detail on Gujarat's development viz -a-viz Akhnoor saying that his constituency is far better developed than Modi's Gujarat. "All inter-state women labour that come to Jammu are from BJP ruled states like Gujarat, Bihar, Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh to earn living while Jammu women are never seen on roads breaking stones," he said .
Sham Lal also referred borders remaining volatile since past six months while pooh-poohing BJP's claim of peace on them.
" Borders are bleeding and BJP politicking on it ," he said. |
