Winning Kathua seat a prestige issue for Khanna 12/10/2014 11:49:30 PM Sanjay Pathak Early Times Report KATHUA, Dec10: Faction ridden BJP is utilizing all powers to win Kathua assembly segment by hook and crook because this seat has become a prestige issue for BJP's J&K incharge Avinash Rai Khanna, who is facing serious charges. Avinash Rai Khanna has deputed ministers from Punjab and his supporters in the Punjab BJP to mobilize people of Kathua to ensure victory of party candidate Rajiv Jasrotia, who is an outsider candidate allegedly imposed in the people of Kathua. BJP Minister from Pathankot Mohan Lal, on the directions of Avinash Rai Khanna, has been camping at Kathua to garner support for "weak candidate" Rajiv Jasrotia. These leaders of BJP from Punjab are brazenly playing caste cards in ensure victory of party candidate. Ignoring wishes and aspirations of all local deserving candidates, BJP has announced Rajiv Jasrotia as party candidate for Kathua assembly segment despite that he was earlier in Panthers Party and was appointed as state general secretary as reward for giving witness against BJP stalwart Prof Chaman Lal Gupta and other MLAs in cross voting episode. It is alleged that it was all due to Rajiv Jasrotia "proximity" with Avinash Rai Khanna that he was given mandate for Kathua seat. Local BJP leaders are shifting all blames on Khanna for imposing an outsider candidate just to fulfil some commitment with Jasrotia, who belongs to Hiranagar. Sources in the BJP said that majority of the party leaders were against giving mandate to Rajiv Jasrotia but Avinash Rai Khanna was adamant.
