CCTVs lying defunct in JU for one year; NSF stages protest | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 10: Angered over failure of Jammu University authorities to repair the Closed Circuit Television Cameras (CCTV) lying defunct in varsity campus for the last two year, National Secular Forum (NSF) today staged protest demonstration against Vice Chancellor. Around two dozen NSF activists including scholars of Jammu University assembled in front of Jammu University gate and staged noisy protest demonstration, amid raising slogans against varsity authorities and in favour of their demand of immediate repairing of defunct CCTV cameras, giving opportunities to create nuisance in varsity and run scot free. Addressing media persons, NSF president Sukhdev Singh said that couple of days back an incident of defacing of inauguration stone of JU was defaced by some miscreants and till date the enquiry committee has failed to zeroed on the culprits. "If the CCTV cameras will be functional, within no time the culprits will be nabbed by the authorities, but the dysfunctional cameras proved an advantage for the miscreants", he said. He further said that the such type of facilities were put in place for security cover or to keep a third eye surveillance on mischievous elements and provide peaceful atmosphere for students but instead of spending of huge students' funds, same have been running out of order. NSF appealed Chancellor NN Vohra to personally intervene in the matter and direct JU authorities to repair the same soon. |
