Consumption of excessive iron-folic supplements

UDHAMPUR, Dec 10: Chief Education Officer (CEO) Udhampur Balbir Singh paid on spot visit of Government Middle School Kotli Bala, zone Jib and conducted preliminary enquiry regarding consuming of excessive iron -folic supplements by some students who fell ill and hospitalized.
During the course of enquiry the Chef Education Officer Udhampur called the parents of the students and it was revealed that student Shivani Sharma has been expired not by taking iron folic supplement but due to other reasons. However, one student namely Rahil Sharma has fallen ill due to consumption of excessive iron-folic.
It has been revealed that the Zone Education officer Jib has not imparted the instructions to the Headmaster middle School Kotli Bala as directed by the Chef Education Officer Udhampur in the meeting. The Zonal Education Officer Jib has taken the matter very lightly.
As per the statement of the head teacher she has distributed the iron-folic acid i.e. 30 tablets together to all the students from class first to eighth for taking one tablet daily after meal as per instruction of the ZEO Jib, whereas the instructions were issued to the ZEO for distribution of one iron folic supplement once in a week only and that too from class 6th to 12th. The Zonal Education Officer Jib and all the staff members of Middle School Kotli Bala are held responsible for negligence.
They have been charge sheeted and enquiry committee headed by Mr. Bimal Rai District Education Planning Officer Udhampur has been constituted for conducting a detailed enquiry.
In the meanwhile the pay of ZEO Jib, whole staff of Middle School Kotli Bala has been kept with-held till final outcome of enquiry and Babli Devi head teacher and Sunita Devi RET regularized teacher have been attached in CEO Office for facing the enquiry.
