JU Non-Gazetted employees continue protest for second day | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 10 : Jammu University Non-Gazetted employees continued their stir against the varsity administration for the consecutive second day today within the varsity premises for suspending two watchmen for their alleged laxity in checking defacement of stone plate replicating inauguration of the varsity by then Chief Minister Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah. Shouting slogans and demanding immediate reinstatement of the suspended Watchmen, the protesting employees suspended official work for two hours. They took out a procession on the campus and also held a demonstration in front of the Old Administration block in JU. The protest was organized under the banner of Jammu University Non-Gazetted Employees Union, the body of class-IV employees and Casual Workers in JU. NGEU president Vijay Sharma said that two watchmen were made scapegoat for mistake of others who defaced the stone plate in the name of former Chief Minister Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah. Nitin Bakhsi, NSUI Jammu unit President said that the decision of varsity to suspend two watchmen was an effort to appease the political bosses as one of the watchman is set to retire next year and nearing retirement university made him the scapegoat for mistake of others. |
