| Div Com reviews election preparedness at Kathua | | | Early Times Report
kathua, Dec 10: In order to review the election preparedness, Divisional Commissioner Shantmanu chaired a meeting at DC Office complex here today.
IGP, Jammu Rajesh Kumar, SSP Pawan Parihar, Additional SP , ACR , Additional Returning Officer besides nodal officer were present on the occasion.
District Election Officer Dr Shahid Iqbal briefed the Divisional Commissioner through a power point presentation about the District Election Plan and action taken for the smooth completion of whole election process in all five assembly segment of Kathua district. While giving detail account of the arrangements viz Security, Dispatch of EVM's, allocation of polling staff and status of trainings, etc.
Divisional Commissioner Shantmanu held threadbare discussions with the Nodal Officers about the transport plan, security Plan, number of Model Polling Stations deployment of Zonal/Sectoral officers and polling parties, strong rooms security, preparation of EVMs, status of facilities at polling station, dispatch centre & receiving centre arrangements for EVM's and polling staff, media and other civic amenities,
The Divisional Commissioner directed the officers to strictly monitor any violations of MCC and follow MCC guidelines of ECI. He said that while issuing EVMs to the polling parties, reserve EVMs should be given to them so that the polling process would not hinder. He also instructed RO's to dispatch the polling parties to far off polling station earlier in time than the others. He further directed all the concerned officers to be vigilant and report immediately to your higher officers if any complaint of non functioning of EVMs would be received during first two to three hours of the start of polling, as these are very crucial.
During the meeting IGP Jammu, passed directions to all the police officers to be vigilant and keep a check on suspicious activity in the district and act accordingly. He also suggested that additional buses have to be arranged before the dispatch of polling parties to their respective polling stations.
Earlier SSP Pawan Parihar detailed the District Security Plan of the district with regard to the elections.
