Early Times Report

Jammu, Dec 14: The ambitious project of NHAI which is under construction in Jammu and Kashmir with an aim to free traffic on Jammu Srinagar Highway still a half baked bread as the works on this project though is on but likely is to miss the deadline once again as fixed by the authorities .
According to reports, the people of state are waiting anxiously for this ambitious project and are estimating this project may or may not get completed by its deadline in 2016. Sources though with an absolute sanguinity believe that project is likely to get completed on time yet AFCONS could not manage to complete the Jammu-Udhampur Widening Project on time as it again missed the deadline fixed.
If recalled here, the Project Director (NHAI) R P Singh during a telephonic conversation with 'Early Times' in recent past had claimed the Entire project from Jammu to Kashmir will be completed before 2016. He however added that Jammu-Udhampur Road Widening process is likely to be completed in June 2014 but after it missing the deadline, he assured that the project may be completed within December.
But sources in sharp contrast, said, there are dull chances that the project will meet the deadline as some of the tunnels as wells as bridges near Nandini locality still need more time to be completed as the construction process in this tough terrain having tough geo-morphological characters is tough and time consuming. Sources added that the tunnel tubes are still awaiting completion.
Project Director (NHAI) when contacted hopefully said that the Jammu-Udhampur Road Widening is almost complete and is ready to be opened soon. He again said that the roads are almost opened but the delay was of tunnel tubes only. He further assured that one tube will be opened shortly within next week for the vehicular movement while the other two will also thrown open soon for the vehicular movement. He added that the project was all set to be completed on the deadline but the natural calamity that affected the whole of J&K also added some obstruction to the Project.
