Window meant for old, ladies being used by agents, touts | Agents rule in RTO office | | Sandeep Bhat
Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 14: The office of Regional Transport Authority seems to have been hijacked by agents and touts. If sources are to be believed and as per the information available with Early Times, the agents seem to be having an upper hand in the office and without any official interference, they are ruling the office. The touts and agents seem to be fearlessly trapping the innocent people. They are minting money from the people coming to the office for driving licences. As per sources, they have an understanding with the higher officials of RTO office. The CCTV cameras are in place but the authorities concerned have failed to check the irregularities in the office. A window which is meant for old, handicapped and ladies remains occupied by these agents. Repeated complaints made to RTO in this regard have been of no use, said Darshan Singh. He alleged that with the active support and cooperation of higher ups in the office, these agents were clearly indulging in unfair means. "They do not bother for even RTO and continue to rule there," he added. Asha Devi, a resident of Channi, who had come there with her daughter, said these agents stand in the queue meant for old, handicapped and ladies and when "I objected to this, these agents even threatened me of dire consequences". Many others complain of similar problems. When this correspondent tried to contact the RTO, despite several attempts, his cell phone was not reachable. |
