JAMMU, Dec 14: In pursuit of 'Mission 44+', the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) right from beginning of hitting the election trail exuded confidence that it would ultimately achieve the target of winning forty four or more seats in the Assembly polls comfortably.
However, the vigorous campaigning in nook and corner of the state being conducted by battery of star campaigners including the Prime Minister, Union Ministers and senior BJP leaders gives an impression that the saffron party's claims of attaining clear majority are only on papers and it is not quite sure of the final numbers. The political experts also find it somewhat extraordinary where a large number of leaders from the BJP is hitting the poll turf in J&K which is a clear indication that the saffron brigade is making hollow slogans of accomplishing 'Mission 44+'.
"If the Prime Minister Narendra Modi is holding eight-nine election rallies in the state and as many as ten of his cabinet colleagues are making rounds to enhance party's prospects in the poll arena then definitely the BJP is uncertain of getting the desired goal of 44+ seats," aver political analysts.
"Pressing so many central leaders into the electioneering could also be bracketed as over-enthusiasm of the party in realizing its dream but the message is loud and clear that the leadership of the state unit of the party is banking heavily on star campaigners from Delhi rather than using their own influence in wooing the voters," they added.
Not only Prime Minister Narendra Modi but Union Ministers and heavyweights including Rajnath Singh, Arun Jaitely, Sushma Swaraj, Nitin Gadkari, JP Nadda, Smriti Irani, Thaber Chand Gehlot, Dr Mahesh Sharma, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and Dr Jitendra Singh are making forceful efforts to ensure that the party's tally of seats crosses 44 mark.
While the Union Ministers are pumping in all their political experience to brighten the party's prospects in the Assembly polls, the top central leadership is also making its presence felt in the poll battle by holding series of election rallies for realizing the party's goal of attaining the absolute majority in State Legislative Assembly.
BJP National President Amit Shah, National General Secretary Ram Madhav, National General Secretary (Organization) Ram Lal, National Spokesperson Syed Shahnawaz Hussain, senior BJP leader Navjot Singh Sidhu besides Member Parliaments Hema Malini, Anurag Thakur, Vinod Khanna and Avinash Rai Khanna are also making trips in length and breadth of the state to seek votes for the party candidates contesting elections from different assembly constituencies.
Some senior BJP leaders from Punjab and Himachal Pradesh have also been engaged by the party leadership to campaign in areas where they have certain degree of influence due to geographical proximity.
According to sources, if the star campaigners are not enough to bolster BJP's chances, then the party is also taking covert support of Rashtriya Swyamsevak Sangh (RSS) cadres, who are silently spreading BJP's message for the last two months in remote areas of the state particularly in Jammu region where it was not possible for the party stalwarts to reach.
