Historic Shivratri Dangal held at Aap Shambhu temple Seswan 2/17/2015 10:34:17 PM Early Times Report Kathua, Feb 17: The historic Shivratri Dangal (Indian style wrestling) was organized jointly by Seswan Dangal Committee and Thathi Dangal Committee under the overall supervision and guidance of Master Kewal Sharma who is popularly known as Munnu Master. Thousand devotees from Jammu &Kashmir, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Haryana witnessed the Annual Dangal which is organized every year on the eve of auspicious occasion of Maha Shivratri. MLA Hiranagar, Kuldeep Kumar and Chief Executive officer,Lakhanpur Sarthal Development Authority, Dr Bharat Bhushan were the special guests on the occasion while Prof Ram Murti Sharma was the guest of honour on this occasion. After paying their special prayers in the Historic Aap shambu Temple ,Seswan, the chief guest and the special guests declared the event commenced Master Kewal Sharma the organizer of the Annual Shivratri Dangal of Seswan told that the people of Seswan and Thathi Panchayats of Barnoti Block have been organizing this event since decades and the participation is encouraging with every passing year. "More than 200 wrestlers took part in Dangal with enthusiasm, he said, adding, "the wrestlers were given cash and other prizes by the organizers." The main contest was organized between Benia Pehalwan of J&K Police and Shammi Pehalwan of Phagwara, Punjab. Benia Pehalwan defeated Shammi in the tough bout. The winner of bout was given cash prize of Rs 51000/- by organizers. Dr Bharat Bhushan, CEO,LSDA appreciated the organizers for organizing the Historic Annual Shivratri Dangal which promotes brotherhood and communal harmony among the masses besides promoting the spirit of sportsmanship. He later presented a Memento to Master Kewal Sharma for promoting the traditional sport of wrestling.
