| Transfers, Postings of Lecturers: Spouses, relatives of influentials manage convenient postings | | Masters working as clerks in DSE for years | | Abodh Sharma

JAMMU, Feb 17: While Teachers, Masters and Lecturers of the department of School Education are on the road against revocation of all attachments and subsequent postings in far flung areas, there are allegations that the spouses and relatives of influential Government officers and those having political affiliations have been posted at the places of their convenience. Further, in breach of the spirit behind Government's order to cancel all attachments, several Masters have been attached to the office of the Director School Education for years and are performing marginal clerical duties.
Sighting Government order No. 65-Edu of 2015, dated February 13, 2015, many a stake holders have alleged that chosen few in the list of 129 lecturers transferred vide aforementioned order have been allotted convenient places of posting while many others who were attached even on compassionate considerations were posted to far off places. "Painstaking efforts have been made to accommodate relatives and spouses of the influential government officers at convenient places and their replacements have been relegated to the inconvenient periphery without any consideration" said one of the transferred lecturers.
"Satya Devi, a lecturer in Chemistry, who was attached to the State Institute of Education (SIE) Jammu, has been transferred to Boys Higher Secondary School Gol Gujral, in the city itself as her Son -in-Law is an IAS officer; Reeti Rajput, a lecturer in Chemistry, also attached to State Institute of Education (SIE) Jammu, has been transferred to HSS Gho Manasan, just on the outskirts of the city as her sister is a KAS officer; Rekha Rani, lecturer in Hindi, whose husband is at a position of significance in Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board and was attached to Directorate of School Education Jammu, has been transferred to DIET Jammu; Sudha Dhar, lecturer in Political Science who reportedly has a relative in civil secretariat has been posted at DIET Jammu and Ranjeet Singh, lecturer in Zoology, who enjoys affiliation to a powerful politician and has been awaiting orders of posting is posted to Higher Secondary School Rehari. Interestingly, Ranjeet Singh's previous two postings have been in SRML higher secondary School Jammu and in JK BOSE Jammu as Academic Officer" a lecturer, who has been posted to a far off place in the order rued.
Meanwhile, ET also learnt that contrary to the idea behind cancellation of all attachments ordered by the Governor, many a Masters of the department have managed postings in the office of Director School Education for years, where they are performing clerical duties. Sources in the DSE divulged that Gurcharan Singh, Rakesh Gandotra, Lakshmi, Ravinder Singh and Subhash Shastri, all Masters have been doing fringe duties for the last 9-10 years right under the nose of the Director School Education and no cognizance of the impropriety in their attachment has been taken.
