JKBWA urges recruitment agencies to give first preference to unemployed of Batwal community | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 17: Jammu and Kashmir Batwal Welfare Association (JKBWA) organized a meeting at Shahzadpur, which was attended by a huge strength of Batwal community members especially the unemployed youth. According to press release, the association stressed on spread of literacy among the children of the Batwal Community and thereafter, resolved to institute 'Lt Col Manohar Lal Kaith Award' which it would present to a Ph. D Scholar for Social Understanding and Achieving Excellence in Education. Later, it discussed the problems being faced by the poor unemployed educated youth among the Batwal community. It further said that youth told the association that despite being highly educated, they are hankering for jobs. They said that without job they cannot come out of the poverty they are living in and lead a dignified life like evolved products of the society. Association members after a long discussion, passed a resolution to urge various recruiting agencies especially Sri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) to give first preference to jobless youth of the Batwal community in recruitment. Association appealed the Government of India to sanction an 'Employment Package' to J&K Batwal community on the basis of the survey report of its Ethnographic Study undertaken in 1994 by the Planning Commission of India. They said that it is only employment that can enhance community youth's economic position and bring them prosperity. Among others who were attended the meeting included Capt. Om Parkash Tugga, Capt. Kamal Chand Motan, Des Raj Kaith Hav, Warayam Chand Motan, Hav, Dilay Ram Kaith, Panch Narayan Dass Bassa, RL Kaith, Dni Singh Motan, Mela Ram Tugga, Madan Raj Kaith and others. |
