Rehan inhabitants protest against defunct ration supply

Rajouri, Feb 17 : Inhabitants of village Rehan under the jurisdiction of Kotranka police station held a mass protest demonstration and blocked Rajouri-Kotranka (Budhal) road for more than 5 hourson Monday alleging defunct system of ration supply at government run fair price shops and non-cooperative attitude of CA&PD officials.
Sarpanch Manjoor Hussain alleged that for the last three months no fair price ration was made available at fair price shops and many a times dealers concerned in nexus with CA&PD officials sell the ration in black market.
"People are forced to buy ration at higher prices in the open market that has disturbed their budgets. During several representations to concerned CA&PD officials in the past besides hollow promises nothing was done in this matter". said Sarpanch.
Later CA&PD officials along with tehsil officials rushed to the spot and pacified the protesters by assuring ration at fair price shops within a week time. Similarly inhabitants of village Panjgrain in Manjakot tehsil in Rajouri district held a protest demonstration before the office of Deputy Commissioner and raised slogans against CA&PD officials alleging mismanagement and discrimination in distribution of ration in their area.
Mohd Din and Bashir Ahmed who lead the protestors alleged that for the last three months they have not been getting proper supply of ration at government run fair price shops.
They further alleged that the fair price shop from their village was shifted to another place and most of the time either it remain closed or the dealer supplying very less ration.
"The matter was several times taken up with the concerned CA&PD officials but no concrete action has been taken by them till today and we have been forced to organize a protest before the office of deputy commissioner at Rajouri" said BashirAhmed.
Abdul Majid, Tehsil Supply Officer (TSO) said that soon proper supply of ration will be provided to the inhabitants of Panjgrain and as for as complaint against the dealer id concerned , if found guilty, action under law will be taken against him.
