NSDC, HM to undertake recruitment drive in Kupwara | | | Early Times Report
KUPWARA, Feb 17 : The Government of India has launched a Scheme, Special Industry Initiative for Jammu and Kashmir in the nature of partnership between the corporates of India and Ministry of Home Affairs. The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and the Ministry of Home Affairs are undertaking a special recruitment drive in Kupwara district of north Kashmir on Feb 18. Early Times have learnt from sources that, "Udaan is recruiting fresh graduates from engineering colleges of Jammu & Kashmir. This programme has provided the youth with employment opportunities across its dealerships and Tata Authorized Service Stations (TASS). Sources said that, over 10 Corporates from across India will be visiting Kupwara for a two day recruitment drive on Feb 18 and 19. The corporates from various sectors including Finance, Tourism, Human Resource, Construction, Automation and Information Technology & IT Enabled Services will be scouting for fresh talent from the border district of Kupwara in north Kashmir. The youth of J&K State are very energetic and can grow in all spheres of life, if proper guidance, opportunities and facilities are provided. They have rightly proved themselves in learning new skills and are doing extremely well in their current roles, sources added. It is considered that the drive is a part of series of mega selection drives being conducted in the state to scout fresh talent from the State. Eight more such drives are planned in the state in the next two months to cover the far flung areas including Samba, Sopore, Baramulla, Kathua, Reasi and Doda, said sources. However in past youth were trained by Tata Motors for a period of 6 months of which 3 months were at NITTR Bhopal / Amity Noida for management training and the remaining 3 at Tata Motors' STCs (Service Training Centres) for technical training. These graduates have now been placed at Tata Motors dealerships as Assistant Managers. Three drives have already been conducted in Srinagar, Jammu and Udhampur which has shown tremendous response from the students. In these drives nearly 2,400 candidates were selected and many more from the final year academic session were short-listed for selection in Corporate India. Special Industry Initiative or Udaan was conceived with two objectives of providing exposure to the graduates and post graduates of Jammu and Kashmir to the best of corporate India and providing corporate India with access to the rich talent pool available in the state. It is pertinent to mention here that, during January, 2013, under a Special Industry Initiative, NSDC and the Ministry of Home Affairs have been mandated to work with the corporate sector in bringing about a positive change in the employment and skills space of Jammu and Kashmir. Meanwhile it is learnt, the Scheme aims to cover 40,000 youth of J&K over a period of five years, and Rupees 750.00 crore has been earmarked for implementation of the scheme over a period of five years. |
