NC has always compromised principles for power' | | | Early Times Report
srinagar, Feb. 17: National Conference has ridiculed PDP's attempts to fool the people by enacting a drama of overnight lack of interest in government formation in the media. National Conference has said that this drama of overnight haughtiness by PDP was just a classic Mufti-esque theatrical act by PDP in the media to bargain for a 6 year CM term for Mufti Sayeed. Senior NC Leaders including NC General Secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar, Abdul Rahim Rather, Mohammad Shafi Uri, Chowdhary Mohammad Ramzan, Mohammad Akbar Lone, Mubarak Gul, Mian Altaf Ahmed, Provincial President Nasir Aslam Wani, Sakina Ittoo, Shameema Firdous and the newly elected legislators of the party lashed out at PDP for insulting the intelligence of the people by assuming its theatrical melodrama in the media could actually give the semblance of an apparent ideological element in PDP's DNA where none exists. Without contesting the claims of the NC leaders, it needs to be mentioned that Omar Abdullah begged for a full term in office and according to insiders was told to forget restoration of autonomy and revocation of armed forces special powers act (AFSPA). Omar, it is believed behaved like a `good boy' and really forgot about his main demand-restoration of autonomy and repeal of AFSA. Sources in the union government went to the extent of saying that the demand or repeal of AFSPA was never put forth formally. Similarly Omar never talked about restoration of autonomy after he was promised a full term in office. The autonomy demand was heard during electioneering in Assembly elections to befool the people. The NC leaders in their joint statement also said that the party can stoop to any extent for power and we are witnessing a new chapter of surrender and undignified submission by the PDP. It is like a monkey saying to another monkey that his back was red. The NC is known for its compromises. It has been compromising its principals from the very beginning for power and history is witness to it. For power it can hug people who otherwise were `worms of the gutter'. |
