| Locals rue curtailed PDS ration supplies across Kathua | | | Early Times Report
Kathua, Feb. 17: People in Kathua have been deprived of their legitimate due of CAPD ration for over a month as authorities of the department have failed to ensure timely availability of Ration in the depots. Mohan Singh, Sarpanch Kharote accused the department for deliberately ignoring the sufferings of public who completely depend upon PDS outlets. He said that people have been suffering due to erratic supply of ration for the last three months, but administration has done nothing to mitigate sufferings of the people. He said that people approached DDC Kathua with their grievances who ensured to restore the supply within days but nothing has been done.
People frequently stage protest demonstration in different parts of the district against the Mal-functioning of the department and have demanded immediate restoration of supplies in different PDS depots of District Kathua.
When approached, Assistant Director CAPD, TP Singh conceded to curtailment of supplies in government depots and said the department was short of funds and hence ration supplies have been hampered. Singh informed that Director convened several meetings to restore the regular ration supply which would take some time.
However, a storekeeper Thirth Ram contradicted the statement of AD Kathua and said there are enough ration for BPL , Aantodaya Yojna but the problem is under APL scheme. He said if the department released supplies to BPL & AAY, those falling under APL shall protest and allege discrimination. |
