NABARD organizes workshop on Joint Liabilty Groups

DODA, Feb 17: NABARD organized a district level workshop at Rahamat Plaza in Doda in order to sensitize and familiarize the Bankers and the NGOs. Representatives from all the banks viz.J&K Bank,SBI,PNB,JCCB,EDB, HDFC and ICICI and NGO's participated in the workshop. DDM NABARD Doda Sh. Rajesh Badyal explained in detail the policy circulars issued by GOI, RBI and NABARD in this regard. An interactive session between BANKERS and the NGOs was also held to sort out the operational issues so that the process of the formation and the credit linkage of JLGs can be accelerated.
As per para 80 of the Union Budget (2014-15) it has been declared that NABARD will form 5 Lakh Joint Laibilty Groups(JLGs) of small and marginal farmers, landless laborers', tenant farmers and oral lessees by providing them finance through banking sector. The target allocated to J&K State is 1000 JLGs. District wise targets have also been allocated by SLBC.
