ARTO launches austerity measures to check traffic violation in Reasi

Jammu, June 21: The recent takeover as new ARTO Reasi by Mohammad Salim has given the district a new impetus through the austerity measures taken by him by effecting a clampdown on the traffic violators and releasing Rs 2,6000 as the challan money from the defaulters. Mohammad Salim, who joined his new place of posting as ARTO Reasi immediately embarked upon the drive to cleanse the mess created by mini bus pliers on Pouni-Reasi road by affecting the austerity measures and has given a new lease of life to the sufferers who have been the victim of the early distress in the district. Talking to Early Times at one of the naka point on the road , Mohammad Salim said that majority of accidents in the area occur due to the overloading of the mini busses who are left scot free and in the process they overload passengers while exposing them to the peril. " I have released austere orders to keep a strict vigil on the movement of the vehicles so that no violation occurs and passengers are provided ample safety while travelling in these vehicles," said the ARTO.
He further said that a clinical watch is also being exercised on the vehicles overcharging from the passengers and are fined on the spot also.
Since his posting as ARTO Reasi a month ago, Salim has seized 50 vehicles and challaned nearly 170 of them , thus realizing an amount of Rs 2, 60,000 as the challan money.
" I have issued directions to my department to make the routine checking as the permanent feature and ensure that the process goes on unabated so that vehicle pliers may not attempt any violation which hurts the people travellinng in them, besides putting them to all kinds of risks," added Salim Mohammad.
Meanwhile, the people pf the area have expressed their gratitude to the new ARTO and hoped that officer would carry on with the austerity measures and get Reasi rid of the felonies committed by the vehicle pliers which have been the order of the day before his joining of the office.
