JAMMU, June 25 : Hiragnagar Club today sailed into the final of the Ist Mahant Bachitter Singh Gold Cup Hockey Tournament, organised by Mahant Bachitter Singh Hockey Club Makhanpur in Simbal Camp, here. In the semifinal, played today, Hiranagar Club stunned Ajit Club Gold Gujral beating latter by three goals to one. Earlier, first half of the play ended in a goalless draw with both teams making all out efforts for first lead. After the breather, Hiranagar took the lead netting the ball in the 35th minute through Gourav Singh. The visiting side of Hirangar added another goal in the 43rd minute through Abhinandan to make it a 2-0 lead. However, Ajit Club reduced the margin with Amrinder Singh beating the advancing goal keeper in the 50th minute. Sailing on superb performance from guard at the net, Ajay Singh, Hiranagar improved their lead in the dying 58th minute with Abhinandan scoring his second and team's third goal. For his brilliant show, Ajay Singh was declared man of the match. Meanwhile, in another match of quarterfinals stages, Singh Club Bandhurakh outplayed Dashmesh Hockey Club Nanak Nagar 3-2. Harvinderpal Singh (ninth and 17th) and Tarandeep Singh (45th) scored for winners Singh Club while Daman and Joginder Singh netted the ball from Dashmesh Club in the 33rd and 38th minute respectively. In today's matches, Lt. Col. Nidhor Shah and Major Rajdeep Singh were special guests. Today's matches were officiated by the technical penal including Daljeet Singh, Jagjeet Singh, Joginder Singh, Gurmeet Singh, Karanjeet Singh, G S Bakshi, Jaspreet Singh, Rajinder Singh and Kunwarpreet Sagar. |
