SMVDU tailors norms to appoint favourite candidates as DFO, ARs | | | Avinash Azad Early Times Report Jammu, June 25: Vice-Chancellor of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) allegedly tailored norms to adjust favourite candidates, misleading the chancellor in the process. On May 7, 2014, the SMVDU had invited applications for various posts including Deputy Finance Officer (DFO) and Assistant Registrars (ARs) under the notification (SMVDU/Admn./Estt./14/160). Sources said for the post of DFO three out of five candidates were shortlisted. "But the final list was not made public by the authorities," said the sources. They said that to adjust a favourite candidate against the post, the university administration wrote to the Chancellor, Governor NN Vohra, that "due to non-availability of a suitable candidate, a contractual appointment was made." Ironically, in its last year's notification, the university had advertised a permanent post of DFO. "Now, the post had been filled on deputation basis, but the name of selected candidate has not been made public so far," said the sources. Similarly, smelling a rat in selection of ARs, sources said that against five posts advertised, only one candidate Mukesh K Goyal was a genuine candidate while the four others were 'ineligible' for the posts. "Bhawana Mishra (at serial no. two of selection list), Sameer Vohra (a SMVDU employee with inadequate experience), Ruchika (a Lovely Professional University employee has also inadequate experience) and Rajeev Rajput (former SMVDU and presently Himachal Pradesh University employee has inadequate experience too)", sources said. When contacted by Early Times, SMVDU Registrar, Ajay Khajuria said that all selections were made in a transparent way. "For the post of DFO we could not get a suitable candidate and the government posted a DFO on deputation basis", he said, adding that the ARs selected have requisite qualification and experience. |
