Early Times Report
Kishtwar, July 20: It was the day of joy for the people of Marwah Tehsil of Kishtwar District that finally after wait of more than five years since the BSNL erected at Inshan Warwan becomes functional and local people get the mobile connectivity in the area after more than 10 years since the service was first introduced in Jammu and Kashmir.
As per the details available with "Early Times", BSNL sanctioned three mobile towers for unconnected areas of Marwah, Warwan and Dachhan during UPA Government, but due to lethargic approach of BSNL, the people of Marwah/Warwan/Dachhan were deprived off the telecommunication facility. These three areas also lack facilities like roads, electricity and the same could be judge from the fact that majority of the government offices sanctioned for these areas runs from Kishtwar town and its adjoining areas which is more than 120 KM from Marwah and Warwan and more than 70 KM from Dachhan.
The overjoyed people from Warwan informed "Early Times" that with availability of mobile services, they could easily now can communicate their problems to administration and government as the area remained covered with snow for more than six months in a year.
"It will help the administration to check absenteeism culture in Warwan and adjoining Marwah as many employees' remains absent from their duties throughout the year" said Bilal Ahmed. He said that Warwan is among the most backward area of the state and required special attention from the government.
With the functioning of BSNL tower at Warwan, the people of Marwah and Dachhan have seen the ray of hope that the two other BSNL towers left abandon at Navapachi Marwah and Sounder Dachhan will also be made functional by the end of this year. Both the towers are under construction since last 6 years as BSNL authorities faced lot of problem in shifting the tower material but with the intervention of former MLA Kishtwar Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo (Ex MoS Home), army help the BSNL authorities by airlifting the material as well as tower machinery.
"Communication is an important tool in present era… we want this facility at an earliest so that we get connected with the outer world… With the communication facility we will be able to communicate and share the problems faced by the local people with administration, ministers and the government" said Mohammad Iqbal of Marwah and urged upon the government to fix the responsibility on BSNL authorities and ensure that BSNL tower at Nawapachi Marwah and Sounder Dachhan becomes functional by the end of this year.
It is pertinent to mention that due to non availability of electricity in Warwan, BSNL install solar light system in the tower and connected it with satellite mode which will ensure uninterrupted mobile service to the people throughout the year.
