Isolated rain predicted in Kashmir as weather remains cloudy, humid

Srinagar, July 20 : Despite a forecast of isolated rain during the next 48 hours before the weather turns dry, cloudy sky and humid conditions prevailed in the Kashmir valley, where people are still in Eid mood. After witnessing yet another above normal temperature night, the people woke up to humid weather in the Kashmir valley, where the sun plays hide and seek today. A Met department spokesman said here this afternoon that isolated or scattered rain is predicted during the next 48 hours in the Kashmir valley and Jammu region. However, he said the weather could turn dry in the valley and Jammu during subsequent days. There will be no change in Ladakh region, where the weather will remain dry during the next six days, he said He said Srinagar and Jammu recorded one degree below normal maximum temperature yesterday. However, the minimum temperature was one degree above normal at Srinagar and two degree up at Jammu. The spokesman said the sky would be partly cloudy and the maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 27 degree and 15 degree respectively in Srinagar tomorrow. Partly cloudy sky is predicted at Jammu and the maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 33 degrees and 24 degrees respectively during the next 24 hours. He said partly cloudy sky and maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 30 degree and 16 degrees respectively tomorrow at Leh, where the minimum temperature was 14.2 degree. At border town of Kargil on Srinagar-Leh national highway, closed due to landslides, also recorded 14.2 degree night temperature. He said world famous ski resort of Gulmarg, major attraction of tourists, Amarnath pilgrims and locals, celebrating Eid, received highest 7.4 mm rainfall till 0830 hrs with the result the minimum temperature was 11.6 degree, about a notch below normal. The minimum temperature at Pahalgam, Qazigund, Kokernag and Kupwara remained above normal.
