Harish Chander Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 8: An IPS officer, who is closely related to a retired police officer, has activated all his resources to get posted as SSP, Jammu. The post is likely to fall vacant in near future as the incumbent SSP is due for his promotion as DIG. He is eyeing the post for the past over an year. His retired relative, who enjoys good relations with ex-Ministers of BJP and PDP, is too helping him, according to police sources. Having already headed two districts as SSP, he is at present posted in another police wing. "It is his earnest desire to get posted in Jammu as SSP. He wants to occupy this post during the Governor’s Rule so that the problems, which officers often face over their postings in the Cabinet meets, do not come his way," sources said. His name for the post of Jammu SSP was also discussed in the last Cabinet meet of the erstwhile BJP-PDP Government but it was dropped at the last moment for certain reasons. He was also said to have activated his sources in New Delhi this time. His name was also discussed for the post after the incumbent SSP had proceeded on leave following protests against him after the Satwari incident of police firing in which a youth was killed. |
