Change of supervisor at JU: HoD History overlooking UGC rules 2/10/2016 11:49:07 PM Avinash Azad ET Report JAMMU, Feb 10: University of Jammu is likely to allot a new supervisor for three Ph D scholars, despite the fact that the scholars had done entire research work, even pre-submission presentation. Sources told Early Times that the university authorities violating UGC rules and minimum standard procedure (MSP) 2009, are all set to allot new supervisor for viva voce. "It is happening just because of incomplete Resolution of 1987 by which they have to take new supervisor because our supervisor Prof. Nirmal K. Singh became MLA/former DyCM of J&K State" said a scholar, adding that the resolution itself not a scholar oriented as it mentioned only registered scholars under the concerned supervisor. "Time Period that scholar already gave in his research and not a percentage of the progress report. If the resolution comprised of these words we still reject the same as our all the research work is already done under the supervision of Prof. Nirmal K. Singh than how is it possible to choose new supervisor for viva-voce", the scholar said. He further said that, university has already given permission to submitted the thesis of two scholars namely Chanderkanta and Neeraj Jandyal under the supervision of our supervisor i.e. Prof. Nirmal K. Singh, then why the authority deliberately was attacking on them. "Because of this, we really get frustrated and can't be able to focus on our research work which is on the last stage i.e. 30 April 2016", said a helpless scholar. Frustrated over dictatorial attitude of the JU administration, he said that they had stayed the Resolution of 1987 in the High Court of J&K. "But HOD History deliberately was planning to change neither our supervisor for Viva-Voce without consulting the scholars nor our supervisor and held a DRC meeting on 06/01/16 in which two of the DRC members are against to change their supervisor and didn't sign on it," he added. Unfortunately, the Chancellor of University of Jammu is taking a call on arrogant administration that is forcing us to take extreme steps.
