JAMMU, Apr 22: Like autocratic rulers, who don't tend to be popular, a senior 'cop', posted at DPL here, has become controversial and the subject of criticism for his alleged autocratic and arbitrary ways of functioning. "He finds faults with his subordinates over trivial issues just to bring them under pressure so that they keep their eyes shut to his illegal ways of minting money," police sources alleged. "His main source of income at DPL is a barber shop," sources alleged. "In police barber shops, no money is taken from police personnel. In the DPL shop, however, money is being charged from the cops as per the market rates. All this is being done at the instance of the senior cop," sources alleged. The proceeds thus collected by the police barber are allegedly given to the senior cop. "Not a single penny goes to the department as the whole of it is gobbled up by the senior cop," sources alleged. "This is illegal as the senior cop has been misusing his official position to mint money," sources said. Even a rate list, signed by three DPL officers, had been displayed at the barber shop, sources informed. "No one at the DPL dares to speak against him, fearing action against them," sources said. Though senior officers were in knowhow of the matter, no action was being taken against him for his strong connections in the state administration, the sources added. |
