CM Mehbooba pulls up babus 4/22/2016 11:14:25 PM Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 22: Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has gone cracking on departments for underperforming. She has till now issued light warnings and these could followed by stern action against under-performing and corrupt officers. Mehbooba after taking over as the 13th Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir about a fortnight ago has been holding review meetings of the departments. On Friday she expressed serious concern over the functioning of the Agriculture department and had reportedly said that the officers shouldn't be doing the role of just distributing seeds or holding some seminars on the agriculture. Agriculture sector has not improved in the last many years despite huge potential for it . The central government has announced many schemes including the national saffron mission but the department officials have not made any headway in this regard and it's for this reason that the CM said she will be personally monitor the development of model agriculture villages for saffron. Earlier she had taken the review meeting of the municipal corporations and municipalities and expressed grave concern of no headway made in scientific disposal of the waste. She was also disturbed to know that even land for scientific disposal has not been identified in the Jammu city. Here too she has decided to personally review the progress made in this regard. The CM is setting the new bench mark in the governance. Sources said she has observed that the officers have not shown much zeal in the work and this work culture had gone too much missing in the pervious Omar Abdullah headed government. Though the late Mufti Sayeed tried to shake the governance model but couldn't live and also that his health was not allowing him. Mehbooba Mufti knows that only governance can bring back the faith of the people in the government and it can tide over the political ideologies that have been attributed to the government.
