Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 22: In a typical case of its type, which senior police officers have so far failed to handle due to political interference, two SHOs - one of the rank of a Sub-Inspector and the other of the rank of an Inspector - continue to head a police station in Kathua district. The SI is heading the police station for the past over an year. Everything went smoothly for him till a few days back when people, angered by the murder of a local, held protests and attacked the police station. As the SI failed to tackle the situation, an Inspector from the district police lines was rushed to the police station. After the situation was back to normal, the Inspector was not called back to DPL by senior officers, police sources said. "Both the SI and the Inspector are now exerting their authority as SHO," the sources added. Sources said though senior officers wanted to shift the SI to some other place, they were unable to do so due to political interference. "A minister, who is close to SI, has asked police not to transfer him," the sources added. Sources said the posting of two SHOs at one police station had badly affected the thana functioning. |
