Mushrooming of marriage halls in Jammu adds to public nuisance 4/22/2016 11:12:29 PM Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 22: The mushrooming of community and marriage halls in Jammu in residential areas is leading to public nuisance. Though people have made umpteen complaints with the authorities, the latter has failed to take any cognizance. People in various areas are up in arms against the administration for its failure in taking the cognizance of mushrooming of marriage and community halls in residential areas in Jammu city and its outskirts which have created a lot of public nuisance. Despite the categorical directions from judiciary the authorities have failed to act against such marriage halls by enforcing the rules in letter and spirit. These marriage halls have created such a public nuisance that the people in the surrounding areas pass sleepless nights due to the night roar, drum beatings and bursting of crackers upto late midnight hours. At various places there have been altercations between the residents living in vicinity of marriage halls and the representatives or owners of these halls but the authorities never take the cognizance of the same. People raising voice against mushrooming of such marriage halls especially near residential areas are being unheard by the authorities at the helm of affairs as there is official-mafia nexus running these marriage halls. Sources said the nexus is so grave that the owners of marriage halls have managed to frame papers showing that these halls are not existing in the municipal areas. Sources said that last night during a function at a community hall in the outskirts of the city a scuffle took place between locals inhabitants and representatives of the marriage hall as people protested against the noise pollution to which they were subjected during last several years. Sources said the protesting locals alleged that they are passing sleepless nights with the establishment of the community hall over 50 kanals of land in the area due to noise pollution of crackers, beating of drums etc. The situation could have taken a critical turn as the two groups were about to clash had the good sense not prevailed among some locals who defused the situation.   Share This News with Your Friends on Social Network     Comment on this Story
