Jammu, Apr 24: The Gastroenterology department now a days has become a hot topic, thanks to two doctors who want to remain as HoD of the said department. The hidden agenda was exposed after the incident of breaking of locks of the room of doctor Showkat Choudhary in Super Specialty Hospital, couple of days ago. The incident is said to have brought a blot to the face of Health department of Jammu and Kashmir as it is alleged that the locks were broken without magistrate's order. Further, it is also alleged that doctor Showkat Choudhary , HoD, Gastroenterology , was not informed about the move by the authorities of Government Medical College and Associated Hospitals, Jammu. As per the order issued by Dr Zahid Gillani, Principal and Dean Govt Medical College, Jammu, having No GMC/FS/16/order/1155, dated 18/4/2016 "In the interest of administration, patient care and smooth functioning of this institution, it is hereby ordered that endoscopy machine of Super Specialty Block is hereby shifted to Government Medical College Hospital, Jammu with immediate effect", with the copy to Secretary to Govt H&ME,HoD Medicine, GMC, Jammu, OSD to Minister, MS GMC,MS SS Block, GMC, but no intimation was given to the Dr Showkat Choudhary , HoD, Gastroenterology in this regard. Amazingly, the locks of the room of Dr Showkat was thrown open by Principal GMC Dr Zahid Gillani amid hue and cry of the patients who were debarring him to shift the machine from SSH to GMC hospital. "In fact there is a slanderous attack on Dr Showkat Choudhary, and a junior doctor namely Vijayant Chandal who wants to be the HoD Gastroenterology is utilizing his political connections . Dr Showkat is the man who brought the endoscopy machine worth Rs 17 lakh from the Olympus company free of cost", authoritative sources said. Meanwhile, Dr Zahid Gillani, Principal and Dean Govt Medical College when contacted said that the government property should not be kept in lock, adding, earlier proposal was mooted before both the doctors namely Vijayant Chandaal and Dr Shoukat to look after the affairs of the Gastroenterology on roaster basis. |
