Bijay Charak Jammu, May 15: Students in Government run schools in J&K are being charged for non existing facilities in schools and have never been questioned. According to sources the students studying in government schools in J&K are paying fee for 15 different categories that include School Improvement Fund (SIF), Red Cross Fund (RCF), Mutual Benefit Fund (MBF), Games fund, Admission fee, Printing Fund, Science Fund, Computer Fund, Social Activity Fund (SAF), Sweeping charges, Magazine fund, Library department fund, forms and prospectus, electricity, telephone and news fund. Astoundingly, with all allegations against private schools, most of the government schools have not provided facilities including Electricity, Computer, Library, Magazine and Telephone but each year government has charged fee from students. Sources further said that around 40 percent government schools of state were without electricity but the fee was charged from student during admission. More than 20 percent Government Higher Secondary Schools in state still have no library facilities but the fee is charged from students. Similarly, the computer facilities was also found in Government secondary and senior secondary schools and 75 percent government senior secondary schools are run without computer internet facilities but the fee was charged from the students. Games funds were also collected from students studying in government schools but thousands of schools in state are running without play grounds and schools having such facilities are deprived Physical Education Teachers. "If government has failed to provide these facilities in these schools why the students were charged for these facilities?", some parents questioned. |
