Early Times Report Jammu, May 31: Observing that police have not carried out proper investigation in the cases of theft of cash from ATMs, high court judge B S Walia today transferred the case to crime branch (CB). The court directive came in a petition filed by M/s Radiant Cash Management Services Pvt Ltd which replenishes cash in various ATMs. On audit of ATMs, a deficiency of Rs 69,17,800 was found, leading to the arrest of a custodian of ATMs on January 31 last, but till date no recovery had been effected. The petitioner also showed displeasure over the investigation carried out by police into the case and sought its transfer to CB on the plea that the matter was extremely technical and required specialised knowhow of banking procedures. Justice Walia, after hearing the two sides, observed that since proper investigation in the matter had not been carried out, it would be appropriate to refer it for investigation to CB, Jammu, in terms of SRO 202 of June 3, 1999. He directed state to transfer FIR No 12/2016 of Janipura police station, FIR No 15/2016 of Bakshi Nagar police station, FIR No 8/2016 of Akhnoor police station and FIR No 29/2016 of Domana police station to CB for carrying out investigation into of them and to take appropriate action in the matter in accordance with law. |
