| Early Times Report Jammu, May 31: Three General Managers of Ranbir Government Press Jammu have appointed 17 permanent employees in the last seven years including two junior Assistants appointed in March 2016 by incumbent General Manger. Moreover, majority of the permanent employees are learnt to be either close to successive Ministers or officials or relatives of the employees working in Ranbir Government Press. In response to RTI application filed by Kuldeep Khajuria of Gujru Nagrota, the PIO of Ranbir Government Press has furnished the list of seventeen employees, who have been appointed in the last seven years by respective General Managers. The then General Manager SK Gupta had appointed two employees out of which one was appointed on basis of SRO-43. During his tenure as GM, Ajaz Ahmed Akhoon had appointed four employees, besides three other employees were appointed as orderly on basis of SRO-43. Incumbent General Manger FH Qadri has so far appointed 11 permanent employees including two junior Assistants. In the month of March 2016, two junior assistants were also appointed in Ranbir Press. Sources alleged that most of the appointments were made either on the recommendationsof some cabinet minister or officials or on the recommendations of employee union office bearers. "Out of the list, some of employees are siblings of employee union members besides some others got their names in the appointment list only after greasing the palms of some employee union leaders and the officials of Ranbir press", sources alleged, adding that the shortlisted candidates were ignored by the administration, while those, who were either in the bottom of the short lists or were not part of shortlists were inducted due to reasons best known to officials. General Manager FH Qadri said that though SSRB was recruitment agency but appointing authority is General Manager and the appointment orders of junior assistants were given by General Manager. On being asked about allegations of ignoring merit list, Qadri termed the allegations as baseless and said that four members' committee made these appointments. "Interview has 20 points and qualification has 80 points. Sometimes a candidate gets more points in interview and after finalization of merit, the candidates, whose name figured in the merit list were appointed", he said. |
