Jammu, May 31: One day workshop on Interest Subvention was organized to sensitize the Bankers from various banking institutions including J&K, Bank & Ellaquai Dehatti Bank, and DPMs/BPMs/MIS Assistants of JKSRLM at SKICC.
The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. G. N. Qasba, Mission Director, Jammu and Kashmir State Rural Livelihoods Mission (JKSRLM). On the occasion he spoke that JKSRLM (NRLM) has a strong focus on building access to financial services by rural poor women. "SHG bank linkage is one of the important pillars of programme so that they are able to establish sustainable livelihoods on affordable rates of interest" he stated. He also apprised the house that Ministry of Rural Development, GoI has come out with policy on interest subvention to the SHGs to encourage prompt repayment.
Further, Dr. Qasba directed the participants to complete the verification of data on National portal of NRLM in a time bound manner so that the benefits of interest subvention would reach to SHGs who are prompt in repayment.
Lokesh, Nodal person, Interest Subvention, NRLM gave orientation to the participants on maintaining the data base related interest subvention and rolling out interest subvention in J&K under NRLM. During workshop participants were acquainted regarding key features of the interest subvention policy specific to category- I & Category- II districts.
While concluding the workshop Dr. Qasba emphasized that with greater clarity on the subject, the interest subvention shall be rolled-out smoothly as an incentive to encourage the SHGs to invest loans more in their livelihoods and move towards self reliance. |
