SAMBA, Aug 24: Municipal Committee Samba has failed to remove encroachment from footpaths in Samba town. This also gives an ugly look to markets and create problem for general public.
Footpath on National Highway and entire route of the Samba town is completely encroached by Bhalla seller, Vegetable Seller ,Garments, Footwear ,Crockery and Fruit Seller.
People alleged that the Municipal Committee Samba and District administration Samba has totally failed to remove encroachment on footpath by vendors. Several vendors outside of the state too are mushrooming in Samba without any fear of authorities.
Municipal authorities allow vendors to sell their merchandise on the foot paths which results in choking and jamming of the all important road. Jams also pose threat to lives of patients shifted to or from the hospital.
Concerned department launched anti encroachment drive only eye wash to the people of samba and save the skin in front of district administration. Apart from that other hawkers too spread their shops on the roadsides and on the footpaths leaving virtually no space to walk.
Several Shopkeepers and vendors display the items on road and footpaths, due to encroachment on footpaths the JK bank line is fully captured by vendors and shopkeepers.
Past few months ago, in a tragic incident at main chowk Samba five person got killed when a speedy Tipper on its way to Jammu from Kathua went out of control near Samba chowk and hit a vehicle and some pedestrians lost their lives.
As illegal encroachment also continues on state land in municipal limit near new bus stand Samba and adjoining areas, people continue constructing shops and houses in govt land without any fear. But the officers of the concerned department shut their eyes to the criminal Act for reasons best known to them. Early Times also published news against illegal constructions on govt land in the edition on July 27.
