Geelani, Pak want Kashmir to burn, Kashmiris to die | Stay away from APD | | Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 3: The All Party Delegation (APD) which would arrive in Kashmir on Sunday may not find it easy to meet the people as the Hurriyat hawk Syed Ali Shah Geelani has issued a fresh diktat that no one should meet APD as it has "no mandate" to hold talks. "The Indian parliamentary delegation is coming to Kashmir after passing a resolution that Kashmir is an integral part of India. Therefore this delegation neither has (any) mandate nor intention to resolve the dispute of Jammu and Kashmir. We suggest to all stakeholders to refrain from engaging in this meaningless exercise (of meeting this delegation)," Geelani said in a statement. Interestingly, the Hurriyat hawk changed his stand just within a day as one day earlier he had expressed his willingness to get engaged in talks process stating that the conglomerate of separatists headed by him has never opposed parleys. "It seems his masters sitting across the Line of Control (LoC) have asked him to ensure that no talks should be held so that Kashmir continues to burn," said an analyst. He said, "Pakistan is leaving no stone unturned to blackmail India at the pretext of ongoing unrest in Kashmir. Pakistan knows it very well that if separatists start talking to India they will end up in New Delhi's lap and Pakistan would be automatically become irrelevant." A politician said, "Geelani and his group is backed by militants and if anyone dares to defy his diktat he may end up losing his life. I don't think anyone would like to risk his life. By hardening his stand Hurriyat hawk is compelling New Delhi to deal with the present unrest with an iron fist. It seems separatists like Geelani have only one agenda i.e. death, destructions and killings. They are hate mongers and they should be isolated." A Kashmir watcher said, "Despite authorities lifting curfew shutdown is on and there has been no let up in the stone pelting incidents even after 56-days of unrest. One can very well imagine how much money Pakistan has pumped into Kashmir to keep the pot boiling. The people sitting across LoC would never want normalcy to return to Kashmir. They want to keep the proxy war on." He said, "At the first place Delhi should not have sent the APD to Kashmir. It should have given free hand to forces to deal with the anti-national elements. Sending an APD to Kashmir is nothing more than a humiliation." "It looks like separatists have been asked by their bosses to stress on the inclusion of Pakistan in the talks process so that it gets an upper hand. We cannot expect separatists to annoy the neighbouring country from where they get their salaries and stipends," he added. It's in place to mention here that India had outrightly rejected the talks offer forwarded by Pakistan to discuss Kashmir. "Kashmir is our internal problem and we don't want any third party interference in it," the Ministry of External Affairs had said. |
