Early Times Report

Jammu, Sept 14: Despite clear directions of the competent court, the Jammu and Kashmir police are reluctant to investigate a case, owing to close terms of certain senior police officers with the accused.
According to complainant, the police not only tried to hush-up the matter but are also harassing him. He said that propertior of a firm M/s Shree jai Baba Lal ji Jewellers (Ramesh Chander Thothla) at link road had rented him a shop and taken full payment by offering consideration of sale of the shop (sublet) and when he agreed to his terms and taking all rented money in advance cheated him by changing locks of the shop at his own and refusing to pay Rs 15 lakhs and also taken four lakhs more to give saledeed from the landlord Kuldeep Kumar.
He further stated that the accused had cheated the complainant with the help of main witness Kulbushan Vohra and a case in this connection has been registered under FIR 138/12 under sections 420 and 427 of RPC in Pacca Danga Police Station.
He maintained that the propertior always abused and assaulted him whenever he went to claim his money. The case was brought to the police, but they instead of helping the complainant harassed him and forced him to take back the case. The matter was moved to High Court, wherein court after going through the case and taking note of apathy of the police directed the police to reinvestigate the case.
Appreciating the role of DIG Jammu-Kathua range, the complainant said the DIG is cooperative but lower rank officers are not entertaining to the complainant and appealed DGP to look into the matter. Still, instead of reinvestigating, the police are harassing and threatening complainant to take back the case. "The accused is in good terms with the police officers, they dine and party together, therefore expecting any significant help from them would be insane. I request higher officers of the police department to intervene and get me justice," alleged complainant.
